AI as a Build Partner: How We Shipped an Award-Winning Website
I work at Jala Design, a web design agency. Earlier this year, one of our/my projects (a full rebrand and website build for Belongside Families, a not-for-profit supporting parents and carers) won 'Health & Wellness Website of the Year' at the Australian Web Awards. In this session, I'd like break down how we built an award-worthy site from the ground up: from naming and brand identity through to UX/UI design and WordPress development, and how AI tools became part of that process along the way. Using it for speeding up development, supporting design decisions, and helping us build in accessibility from the very beginning. I guess the main lessons I expect attendees to learn are: - How to use AI during development to not only speed up progress, but to bring your work up to a higher, award-worthy standard - Specific ways to prompt and review AI output so it meets a professional, real-world standard beyond generic defaults - How to use AI tools to test and enforce accessibility compliance throughout a build, rather than treating it as a final audit step - How to catch and correct accessibility issues AI introduces or misses, before they reach the client I hope to share insight with designers, developers, and builders who are working on real-world client projects, and hope that they'll come away with real, valuable insight on how to raise the bar on their own work using AI as a genuine quality tool, and not just a speed tool.
